My brother-in-law Isaiah Fraser loves to carve elaborate wooden items from scrap wood. All his family and friends call him Nokey, and he is a Trashmagination artist just like me. You can imagine how thrilled I was to have yet another creative reuse artist in the family.
To make his carved wood art, Nokey draws a pattern on paper and attaches it to scrap wood. He then uses a scroll saw to painstakingly cut out the tiny pieces of wood.

Mostly he works with maple and oak, although he has made some pieces from palette wood.

Like me, making beautiful items from trash is a source of great inspiration for Nokey. He is always thinking about projects he would like to tackle next. Nokey lives in Nova Scotia, where there is a long history of folk art carving. I look forward to seeing his next creations!
