It’s teacher appreciation week so I sewed some cute cubic desk organizers / gift bags for the kids’ teachers and filled them with goodies.
People ask me if I need a special sewing machine to make these, and the answer is no – a regular machine works & a regular needle – although you go through needles a little faster so it might be worthwhile to get extras or use a denim-weight needle. I used regular thread as well – my favorite which is Gütermann.
Certainly, my kids’ teachers are awesome and make a huge difference in my life. Another reason why I was inspired to make these gifts was because I got my own teacher appreciation gift. I had donated one Trashmagination class into our class basket fundraiser, and last week I gave the class to the winning family. The girls were delightful and they made me this thank you from a recycled pasta box. Awwww. They were SO excited when they ran up to give me this note, and as I opened it, I felt it right in the chest. I was reminded how important it is to make thank yous for the special people in the world. Plus, I loved every minute sewing the cubes together.
Thank a teacher today!
