Today I volunteered at the new Nova Labs location. My family visited the old Nova Labs location, and I hosted a table at the Maker Faire that Nova Labs helped host. Now they are moving into a new large space with help from a Google grant.
Volunteers are working hard to build walls and run electrical wires right now. It’s a huge job. I tackled a wall in the future classroom space that had been spackled but needed to be sanded and primed. It was a very tall wall, so I was climbing up and down a ladder with a handheld power sander. I’m sure I’ll have a few sore muscles tomorrow.
I would love to get involved in Nova Labs in some way because I believe in the power of making things by hand. I love prototyping new product ideas. Maker Spaces are wonderful incubators for prototyping because you can access equipment for a low cost before making a big investment in a business.
There are quite a few conference rooms in the new space. Perhaps I will some day offer my innovation sampler classes in these?
Here’s the big room that you enter when you come in the front doors. Earlier in the day, there were lots of young adults building robots in this space.
Nova Labs appreciates any volunteers who can help during the weekends in the coming weeks. There is a lot of painting still left to do!
