Upholstered bench cover from interior design scraps

My Taiko group was cleaning out old materials and found a bench with badly molded cover. They asked if I could fix it.

Luckily I have a collection of upholstery fabrics samples. These are about 1.5 foot by 1.5 foot pieces of fabric that I got on Freecycle from an interior designer who was closing shop about 10 years ago. They are very handy for projects like this where you want some hardy fabrics. The tricky part is finding samples that go nicely together with similar color palettes & fabric weight.

This was my first time doing upholstery, including adding this trim piece that has a thin rope inside to give it shape. I took apart the previous cover which then served as pattern pieces.

I’m pleased we could salvage this piece of furniture!
