My American Made Votes for September 2

Today I’m going to vote for green or upcycling¬†Makers in the Santa Cruz / Carmel / Monterey area. I am researching green innovators within an hour of Asilomar, which is the location for next year’s Family Nature Summits. So here are a few that we might visit on one of my tours:

1. Farmhouse Culture

Kathryn makes kraut (pickled stuff) using local ingredients with fun flavors.

2. Strawfoot Homemade

Garrett makes handcrafted bags from waxed cotton with vintage tools.

3. Reveille Reveille

Angel and Michael make body products from natural ingredients. They met while working on the USS Nimitz.

4. Friend in Cheeses Jam Company

Tabitha makes jam from whatever is growing locally, including fig and fennel jam this summer.

5. Creekside Farms

Carol and Larry make wreaths and garlands from herbs and flowers that they grow.

Yesterday I voted for Fireclay Tiles which is also in this region.

So perhaps I’ll get to meet some of these Makers in person next summer!
